Civil War Weekend, presented by Steam Into History, commemorated the history of the American Civil War, with a 3-day schedule of events and activities designed to bring this engaging era to life. The first annual Civil War Weekend was held on the last weekend in July of 2016, with authentic experiences including:
Civil War Ball
Sunday Church Service
Train Rides Ongoing Throughout the Weekend!
Activities and events were open to participants of all ages!
Thanks to everyone who participated in our first ever Civil War Weekend. We had a blast from the Bluegrass Festival at Ruins Park to dancing at the Civil War Ball, cavalry train rides, Lunch with Lee, encampments, Sunday church service and so much more.
Most importantly we want to thank our generous sponsor – Cultural Alliance of York – who sponsored the entire weekend event!
Last but not least, we offer a big round of applause to our volunteers who helped make this event a success. Without their support it would not have been the same. It is because of the volunteers in our organization that we are able to dream big and achieve these wonderful events. Flaggers, reenactors, decorators, narrators, shop clerks, ticket takers and organizers are all appreciated.
