Mark Twain on the Glen Rock Express at 2:30 pm
Sep 1, 2018Ride Time(s): 2:30 pm
The American literary icon who wrote “Huckleberry Finn” and “Tom Sawyer,” is only sometimes remembered today as Sam Clemens. To the public in his day, and still today, he was and is Mark Twain – a successful writer, noted lecturer, and humorist.
Twain is accompanied by his good friend and benefactor Henry H. Rogers, the Hell Hound of Wall Street. Henry precedes Twain, telling the passengers why he, Rogers, was so important to both the US economy and Twain in particular. He then introduces Twain. The trip is not conducive to our customary lecture format. Consequently, both gents meander through the cars talking to the passengers and reflect period history, humor, and economics. Twain, the humor; Rogers, the economics. When Twain does the meandering, he takes short pieces and jokes from his stand-up lectures as he moves through the cars.
The coaches are pushed and pulled by the diesel locomotive.
This is an hour long ride.
Tickets will be printed and be available for pick up at the ticket booth on the day of the excursion.
